I’m so excited to share that Love On Site was a finalist in the 2023 Stiletto Contest!
Shoutout to my critique partner, Michelle Hazen, for introducing me to the contest. I hadn’t entered my writing into a contest since my freshman year of high school, but what could it hurt? Worst case, I’d be out $30. Best case, I’d have something to add to my bio.
I submitted the first 5,500 words of my novel, Love On Site, in the Unpublished category. In the first round, participants were required to judge three other entries based on a very detailed rubric. Finalists, like myself, were sent on to be judged by industry professionals in the second round. It was really fun to see the notes judges left for me.
Some of my favorites:
“OMG, so many literal LOLs. 100% agree with Talia Hibbert reference.”
“The banter is immaculate!”
“This was a pure joy to read.”
“Outstanding. 100% Millennial. Nailed it.”
So while I didn’t win the contest, I did have a lot of fun. And the ego boost just before entering the querying trenches didn’t hurt either…
Love On Site
Love On Site is a high-heat STEMinist rom-com about a female mechanical engineer who decides to accept her temporary colleague’s offer to help “work out the kinks” of her sexual dysfunction, all without catching feelings or risking her career-making promotion.
